Nicaraguan authorities strengthen their knowledge of social housing adapted to climate change in workshop organized by CABEI with Korean experts

This activity is carried out within the framework of the Korea-CABEI Single Donor Trust Fund (KTF) in three countries in the region: Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.

Managua, June 27th, 2022.- Experiences and knowledge on habitat development and social housing, as well as the analysis of possible situations generated by climate change and natural disasters, were analyzed in Nicaragua during the workshop "Social Housing and Redevelopment Efforts Incorporating Climate Change Adaptation Measures Considering Natural Disasters," organized by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and the Republic of Korea.

The workshop was developed by the public institution Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) and the Korean consulting firm HAN-A Urban Research Institute, who presented the opportunities for improvement in the sector based on their experience to authorities of the National System for Disaster Prevention, Mitigation and Attention (SINAPRED), the Nicaraguan Institute of Urban and Rural Housing (INVUR), the Managua City Hall and the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit.

"We are pleased to hold this workshop to strengthen the knowledge of the different actors involved in developing and promoting social housing and urbanization for environmental and social sustainability, a transversal axis of our institutional strategy with which we plan to improve the population's quality of life," said CABEI Executive President, Dr. Dante Mossi.

Among the topics addressed were urban development policies, smart cities and climate-resilient housing. This activity was carried out within the framework of the Korea-CABEI Single Donor Trust Fund (KTF) in three countries in the region: Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.
