Background
The National Fire Department is designing new strategies to meet the increasing service demand related to fire danger and other circumstances originated by climate change. First, they plan to upgrade technologies related to personal protective equipment, emergency vehicles, and command and control systems. Adopting new technologies and best practices can improve coverage, overall performance and enhance the safety of firefighters. Second, the construction of new fire stations and the rehabilitation of older facilities to expand service coverage and minimize response time.
Objective
Determine the appropriate investments and interventions necessary related to infrastructure, equipment, management systems; as well as demonstrate South Korea’s cutting-edge technologies to strengthen firefighting capabilities and expand coverage.
Expected Results
A series of studies on the current infrastructure, technologies, and equipment to support the enhancement of fire and emergency services nationwide, as well as the digital learning system for firefighting training to support the deployment of a Drone Assisted Emergency Monitoring and Response System Pilot for a selected area.
